 ABM of Hard Corals

The alarming rate of depletion of coral populations around the world will unquestionably have a direct impact on the marine resources. The ability of a coral community to recover is perhaps that least understood of the dynamics in a coral reef ecosystem.

While the Lindemayer or other simple physical models can be used to describe and simulate growth and form of some corals, a more complex modeling will require the incorporation of sub-models defining the multi-physical processes (e.g. fluid dynamics, particle diffusion, chemical signaling, independent internal transport) to generate the complex forms and growth patterns of corals.
